UBMC: Providing the Best Patient Care with Epiphany Healthcare

Posted by Shannon Richter on March 4, 2020 at 4:06 PM

UBH_logoUintah Basin Medical Center is a non-profit community hospital, located in Roosevelt, Utah, that has been an Epiphany Healthcare customer for five years. Uintah Basin uses Epiphany’s Cardio Server to manage their ECG, stress, Holter, and PFT studies. Recently, they added to their system by implementing Cardio Server Mobile. We reached out to our contacts there and they had great feedback to share.

Before implementing Epiphany’s Cardio Server, Chance Hayes, Director of Respiratory Care, said “Our workflow was inefficient. There was lag-time, paper processes, and unnecessary trips to a file room. With our old method, there was up to a 2-week delay for results to be uploaded to our EMR”.

Since implementing Epiphany, the staff put the studies into Cardio Server and the studies are instantly available in the EMR. Printing on paper and digging through a filing cabinet are no longer necessary.

George Brown, Respiratory Therapist, exclaimed, “Working with Epiphany has been wonderful. Our ease ofdoc-twostudies-mobile access has been great, and the interface is user-friendly.”

Chance and George both agreed that implementing Cardio Server Mobile has helped them carry out their hospital’s mission, which is: “Caring for our communities through access to compassionate, quality healthcare and investing in those we serve.” Chance added, “Five outreach clinics are getting nice, clean, diagnostic-quality images, allowing the staff at the clinics to know the status of their patients right away.”

Chance went on to say that Cardio Server Mobile allows them to provide better patient care. He gave this example, “Say someone shows up here at the hospital and just had an ECG in another location. That ECG can be pulled up right away instead of searching for that study; Cardio Server Mobile allows doctors to spend more time with patients.”

Chance Hayes, Director of Respiratory Care:

“Having a standardized workflow has made it possible to manage a system that was
otherwise unmanageable.”

Both Chance and George echoed that they love their organization because they do the right thing for their patients and implementing Epiphany has been a big step in assisting them in that pursuit. By focusing on implementing technology and processes that help put the patient first, Uintah Basin Medical Center has been able to grow to the largest independent rural healthcare system in Utah. From emergency medical services, to women’s health, to home care services, UBMC works effortlessly for its communities through providing access to compassionate quality healthcare.

Epiphany’s Cardio Server has been a part of this growth of quality care. Cardio Server is a workflow solution with an intuitive user interface that is cost effective and backed by exceptional service. Healthcare organizations can use their existing devices since Cardio Server supports over 260 devices from over 80 vendors in 23 diagnostic modalities. Physician training can be accomplished in about 15 minutes. One EMR interface for all modalities can be leveraged by consolidating multiple test types into one integration. There is live support available 24/7/365 located in the United States. Healthcare organizations can reduce server requirements, storage, and IT costs with Epiphany Cloud Services. 3 Easy Ways to Make Your Hospital More Efficient

Is the hospital you work for your home away from home?  Do you want your hospital to be the best it can be?  Do you see room for improvement but don’t know how to improve the efficiency of your hospital?

Most efficiency problems in any industry come down to one thing—communication.  The old saying, 'communication is the key to any good relationship,' also applies to the doctor/patient relationship.

If you can improve communication processes, you could cut costs while improving healthcare.  More fluid communication can reduce the time it takes for nurses and doctors to do their jobs.  More fluid communication allows doctors the ability to provide patients with more timely test results and care to reduce patients’ fear while waiting for the unknown.

Here are three easy ways to streamline your hospital's communication and workflow.

Make Your Hospital More Efficient by Simplifying Your Cardiology Workflow

Epiphany’s Cardio Server ECG Management System

Leave paper and the delays in its processing in the past.  Epiphany's Cardio Server ECG Management System has an intuitive user interface and is IT friendly.  It allows you to pull up ECG data and other diagnostic test results from anywhere in the hospital.  You can view ECGs from an iPhone or iPad or leverage our new Cardio Server Mobile Application.  This digital access eliminates the need for paper copies.  A doctor can easily pull up results at the patient’s bedside with a touch of a screen.

Make Your Hospital More Efficient by Simplifying Your Pulmonary Workflow

Pulmonary Server

Epiphany's Pulmonary Server allows users to access, view, edit, and electronically sign pulmonary studies and other diagnostic test data from anywhere in the hospital, office, or home.  It streamlines communications and hospital efficiency by saving time and reducing labor costs.  Just look what it did for the Cleveland Clinic.

Make Your Hospital More Efficient by Going to Paperless Rhythm Strips

Rhythm Strip Management

Epiphany's Rhythm Strip Management provides a solution to the labor-intensive challenges of patient monitoring strip management.  The application eliminates paper and the time it takes to cut it, scan it, file it, and read it.  Again, paper belongs in the past.  Anyone with access can pull up rhythm strips digitally and instantly.  This instant access reduces time and streamlines communication.

More timely communication makes hospitals more efficient.  Using these three, or even just one of these solutions, will streamline your hospital's communication.  Healthcare technology such as these applications will significantly improve the care-delivery experience for both the doctor and the patient.

ECG Management Buyer’s Guide-2:   Automation—Why Removing Tedious Processes is Crucial

Posted by Allison Fawber on November 28, 2016 at 10:10 AM

Speed and efficiency are critical aspects of patient care. Timely receipt and transfer of study data, diagnosis, billing information, etc., are vital in today's healthcare market. Manual order reconcillliation is a tedious process and we have the solution.

Slow_process.jpg

What is it? Auto-reconciliation. You spend a lot of time manually reconciling studies to orders for tests performed before an order has been placed. It is a time-consuming, laborious process.

With Epiphany’s Cardio Server, your studies automatically reconcile even if an order is sent after the test has been performed. This is a big deal as other ECG management systems can only offer a manual reconciliation process. A manual process involves many tedious steps to link a study to an order, these are extra steps that waste your valuable time.

Cardio Server can reconcile on patient ID, patient name, and date of study. If these fields do not suit your needs, different fields can be used for reconciliation—the settings are configurable based on your preference.

Emergency Department Benefits

Cardio Server enables a workflow where an emergency department physician makes a full interpretation of the study before an order is placed. When the order comes in and matches to the study, it is automatically confirmed. The reading physician does not have to take another look at the study. This is extremely important as most ECGs in the emergency department are initially completed before an order is placed. This process also helps with the hospital’s door-to-balloon time protocols because the ECGs are confirmed by a physician immediately upon receipt.

No add-on is required for this type of workflow; auto-reconciliation is something our application has been able to do for years. Auto-reconciliation is included with Cardio Server’s default configuration and the settings can be tailored to your needs. Cardio Server’s order reconciliation process greatly reduces manual workflow steps saving clinicians valuable time.
